Birth Partners, you matter too!
Let’s talk about you, birth partner.
Yes, YOU. The one doing the tea runs, the back rubs, the quiet encouragement.
Your role doesn’t end at birth, in fact, it’s just beginning.
Bonding with your baby is something you absolutely can do and it doesn’t have to look like magic or instinct. It’s built slowly, gently, through presence.
Here are some beautiful ways to bond:
👶 Skin-to-skin cuddles - not just for mum! Holding your baby on your bare chest helps them feel calm and secure (and boosts your oxytocin too).
🍼 Feeding support - whether you’re bottle feeding or supporting breastfeeding, you’re part of that nourishing rhythm. Eye contact, closeness, holding space.
🗣️ Talking, humming, singing - your voice is familiar and comforting. Even reading a bedtime story can become yourthing.
🛁 Bath time or nappy changes - these everyday care moments are golden bonding time. Don’t underestimate them.
💬 Being emotionally available - your calm, your patience, your presence? That’s the foundation of secure attachment.
You don’t need to do everything perfectly. You just need to show up with love and you’re already doing that.
And if it feels a bit clunky or awkward at first? That’s normal. Bonding is a relationship, and relationships take time.
You're an essential part of your baby's world. Never doubt that. 💛
