Postnatal Doula Support in Sutton, South West London & North Surrey
The postnatal period, often called the fourth trimester, refers to the first 12 weeks after birth, a deeply important yet often overlooked time in the UK. Unlike in some other cultures, new mothers here don’t always receive the level of care and rest they truly need.
In China, this phase is known as “sitting the month,” where mothers are nourished with warm, healing meals. In Japan, it’s described as a time for “peace and quiet with pampering.” In the Netherlands, a Kraamverzorgster, a postnatal care specialist, provides essential support at home in the early days. These traditions recognise what many parents in South West London & Surrey come to realise: those early weeks matter deeply.
As a postnatal doula in Sutton, I’m here to bridge that gap. To nurture, nourish, and truly mother the mother during this sacred time.
Unlike a nanny who focuses solely on the baby, a postnatal doula supports the whole family. Whether you’re in Sutton, Wimbledon, Wandsworth, Kingston or nearby North Surrey, think of me as your extra pair of hands, your calm companion, your honorary sister.
"Sophie's support was incredibly valuable during those newborn weeks. She fit right in with our family and knew exactly how to help. Since we didn't have any family nearby, having Sophie was really meaningful. I could focus on feeding and resting while Sophie took care of cooking and tidying up the house. We're very thankful for Sophie, as she made us feel at ease during a chaotic, yet wonderful time."
-Emily, Doula client
What can I do for you?
Having a newborn can be hard. I will provide you with emotional, practical and informative support as you nest at home with your new addition. If you need to sleep, rest or shower I can care for your baby and any siblings. Cooking is my love language. I can make you delicious and nutritious meals plus endless cups of hot tea. Light cleaning or tasks around the house can form part of my role as well as assisting with food shopping, help you with feeding / cleaning & sterilise bottles, if you have a furry friend I can take them for a walk. Above all I will offer encouragement and a non judgemental listening ear.

Choosing a Postnatal Doula is very personal and I invite you to speak to more than one Doula to ensure the right fit for your family.
The early postpartum period is a sacred time of growth and love. All new parents deserve to be listened to, supported and held as you heal and get to know the new little person in your home. You matter. Give yourself the gift of practical & emotional support, a spare pair of hands and encouragement in your early days of motherhood.
I look forward to speaking to you soon.
“You birthed a baby and you birthed yourself into a new phase of life. There is no more pronounced shift in body, mind and spirit than becoming a mother.”
-Kimberly Ann Johnson
“Choosing to work with Sophie was one of the best decisions and gifts I could’ve given myself in postpartum. Sophie provides a calming presence and reassuring listening ear. During each visit, Sophie would play uplifting music as she cooked away meals for me to have for the week. Because meals were cooked up by Sophie, my husband was able to take one thing off to do list and be present with the baby and myself. Sophie is an asset to all mothers pre-and postnatal. If I could share one loving-tip, do yourself the kindness and enlist Sophie as a part of your post-natal support system.”
